Happy Monday! Didn’t winter just last forever…? And I mean FOREVER. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good boot and jacket look, but I was so tired of that cold that as soon as I got a WHIFF of Spring, I was already ready for Summer (LOL); I was filling up my online carts with all sorts of cute stuff!
Plus Size Dresses
I am a big fan of dresses; in fact dresses make up about 85% of my wardrobe - with a cute plus size dress, you can just throw it on and you instantly look chic and pulled together. And with my hectic life, honey I need instant slay, OK?
Take this super cute organic linen and cotton Mara Hoffman Lorelei Shirtdress, for example. It is such an easy to throw on Spring and Summer fashion that you can wear with almost anything. And white is ALWAYS a warm weather colour that I re-visit every single Spring and Summer. The dress goes up to a size US20 and is cut very generously for pear-shapes especially ;)
I paired this dress with a pair of Evetta Criss-Cross Heeled Mules from long-time favourite affordable shoe brand Shoedazzle, accented with this mega on-trend dainty gold anklet (with a timely mother of pearl dangly bit) from Theia Jewelry and a pretty in pink Chanel Flap bag. I think this is a piece that I can see myself wearing over and over again!
Now, I know I just gushed about this gorgeous Mara Hoffman dress, but with a $500+ price tag, it’s a little on the pricier side and it’s a definite splurge item (or is it? Stay tuned!) . But never fear! I’ve put together a list of five affordable plus size dresses to help you cheaply update your Spring and Summer wardrobe!
Affordable Plus Size Dresses - UNDER $100!
Isn’t this ASOS Curve high neck dress just darling? And honey, if you’re looking for a plus size wedding guest dress, this might just be it! The satiny slip dress feel is very on trend, and the keyhole coupled with the high neckline is the perfect amount of skin. Pair this with the latest barely there kitten heels that are everywhere these days.
A black maxi dress will always be in style, and the drawstring waist on this beautiful dress from City Chic is perfect for a summer look with bawdy. I am in love with this ruffle detail and the length is just perfect (even for us tall girls!). Cognac-coloured sandals and a super on-trend ladylike top handle (I am salivating over all things Staud right now, so this gorgeous Moreau bag by the brand is on my Spring splurge list!) will complete this look. Don’t forget the cat eye sunglasses and red lip!
Spring trench…but make it sexy <insert Tyra GIF> this dress is not for the faint of heart, honey. It’s very body-hugging and the off-shoulder detail on this dress really outlines MY favorite part on a woman’s body; the clavicle and shoulders (in fact, in the summer when I am wearing a dress that shows off this area, I dust a little highlighter across my clavicle so that the sun can make that area pop SEVERELY). I am absolutely in love with this dress and it’s sitting in my FTF cart right now, with a few other goodies I can’t wait to show you guys :)
Ok…ok…I gotta calm down (deep breaths). Eloquii really does make some of the BEST plus dresses out there! And so many of them hit under that $100 mark including this gorgeous button-front white number (worn here by one of my favorite bloggers, MusingsofaCurvyLady) that’s the perfect mix of ladylike and sexy with the midi length and that bust line and I LOVE a white dress for the spring (like my Mara Hoffman dress in this post!). Eloquii has some dresses I am in LOVE with this season!
Denim dresses are popping up a few places this season, and I love them. They can create a really casual look, but one that’s still pulled together and classic. This shirt dress from Simply Be is a two-for-one: it’s denim AND it’s in the timeless shirt dress silhouette. For less then $50, you will definitely get your money’s worth with this one!
